I made this work, fully inspired by G.K.Chesterton's novel " The man who was thursday" is a detective story; as it could be found in ordinary detective stories, asks "who? What?", but instead of marking "the who?" -by the very impressive thinking and creativity of the writer- examines “the state of being who?”
The book is considered as political dedective story, seeks origins of the political power. In the years, for me, the book become a imaginary mode for the hypocracy in terms of ideas and identities.
The video shows only texts that I picked from the book. The words on the table, like;
" anarchist", "artist" "story teller" and I use some images of the politicians, anarchists, soldiers that I collected from encyclopedia. The photos had been taken at some important moments in the world history.
This installation is basically about the identities and what is really behind this identities. It is about “language” and how it corrupted by those mis-usages. Since I am too much into the conceptual and mere philosophical question in this work I choose very old-modish installation setting, as if it isn’t made in our times, as a game into the language of art.
About the book: The man who was thursday, a nightmare by G.K. Chesterton have been written in 1908. Story passes in london but in very surrealistic athmosphere. The main charachter of the book is a police detective who is actually a poem becomes a member of the anarchist concil of europa. The members of the anarchist concul, because of the some safety reasons called by the name of the week. The book ends up the reality that all the memebers are policemen and many paradoxical situation and such.

Seni Aptal!!Neden Anarşist kılığına girmiyorsun! / 2007

Bu işi tamamen, bir dedektif romanı olan, G.K.Chesterton’un “Bay Perşembe” kitabından esinlenerek yaptım. Sıradan dedektif romanlarında olduğu gibi, kitap “kim? Ne?” sorularını sorar fakat “kim?” e bir cevap/isim bulmak yerine –yazarın müthiş yaratıclığı ve düşünceleriyle- “kim?” olma durumu üzerine eğilir. Bu kitap politik bir dedektif romanı sayılmakta ve gücün kaynağını politik erk’de aramaktadır. Yıllar içinde, bu kitap benim için, kimlikler ve fikirler açısından hipokrasi için bir örneğe dönüştü.
Yanlızca metinden oluşan videoyu kitaptan alıntılarla oluşturdum. Masadaki kelimeler, “anarşist” “sanatçı” “hikaye anlatıcısı” ve duvarda; politikacı, asker veya devrimcilerin ansiklopedilerden alınmış fotoğraflarını kullandım. Bunlar dünya tarihinde önemli anlarında çekilmiş olan fotoğraflar.
Enstelasyon temel olarak kimlikler ve bu kimlikler arkasındaki gerçek kimlikler üzerinedir. Dil hakkında ve yanlış kullanımlarla dilin nasıl bozulduğuyla da ilgili. Bu iş’de kavramsal ve neredeyse felsefi bir soru ile uğraştığım için oldukça eski bir enstelasyon biçimini/dilini seçtim.
Kitap Hakkında: Bay Perşembe 1908 yılında yazılmış. Olaylar Londra’da geçer ancak oldukça sürrealistik bir atmosferde. Ana karakter aslında bir polis dedektifi ve aslında bir şairdir ve anarşist konsülün üyesi olmayı başarır. Güvenlik sebeplerinden dolayı bu konsülün yedi üyesi haftanın günleriyle anılmaktadır. Kitap anarşist konsülün tüm üyelerinin aslında polis dedektifi olduğunun açışa çıkması ile sona erer ve birçok paradoks ve bunun gibi olaylarla örülüdür.
