Critical Mess

It was amazing to see a "critical mess" on the street yesterday in Copenhagen. I didn't have my camera with me, sorry, no images but I would like to talk a little bit about this fantastic occasion.

Critical mass is basically created by group of people with bike. They occupy the whole street where the bikes are not allowed to be and they are riding bikes very slow and making circular movements at the same point of the street untill the police come. Then those crowd starts to shout or use whistle, makes noice. Yesterday's occasion, A young punk guy arrested and I cannot say the police was polite to them.

As I could learn after the youth house had torn down those people attemd more activism than ever. They usually squat houses only for one hour or a day - novadays police is very strict about squatting- or make this critical mass with bikes. They have network of SMS to eacother and creating a protest group in very short time.

We have been talking about the current stiuation in Denmark precisely about contemporary art with danish artists and they are not happy with the system and were complaining of the lack of the critical thinking. But for me before the intellectuals there is real activism going on street level and with the participation of very young people which is very important. They are also connected with punk music-life style and they are very aware of the normalisation or hidden pressure.

I have never seen these sort of protest in any Nordic or Europian countries. Critical mess, was the most interesting thing in the city compared with the many exhibitions, art and such.

But Kunstal Charlottenburg will be open with Olafur Eliason show.

Eleştirel Karmaşa

Dün Kopenakta sokakta gördüğüm Critical Mass muhteşem bir olaydı. Kamera yoktu yanımda o nedenle fotograflayamadim ama biraz bu eylemden bahsetmek istiyorum.

Critical mess, bir grup bisikletli insanın toplanarak caddeyi, arabalar için olan kısmına gecip yolu meşgul etme eylemi. Bisikletlerini caddenin belli bir bölümünde direler çizerek ve oldukça yavaş hareket ederek yolu polis gelene kadar kapatıyorlar. Polis gelince de bağırıyorlar, düdük çalıyorlar ve her türlü gürültüyle protesto gerçekleştiriyorlar. Dün genç bir cocuk tutuklandı ve polisin nazik davrandığını söyleyemeyeceğim.

Anladığım kadarıyla Youth House ın yıkılmasından sonra bu türden aktivist hareketler ve protesto gösterileri giderek artmış. Bir günlüğüne ya da geçici işgal etme eylemi ya da bisikletlerle yapılan caddede karmaşa yaratma eylemleri gibi. Birbirine SMS gondererek kısa sürede çok sayıda kişi biraraya geliyor.

Burda danimarkadaki durum hakkında konuşuyorduk özellikle de güncel sanatın durumu hakkında, Sanatçılar burdaki sistemin gidişatından memnun değiller ve eleştirel düşüncenin güncel sanatta eksik oluşundan şikayetçiler. Bana göre entellektüellerden önce burda sokak seviyesinde ve oldukça genç insanların katılımıyla gerçekleştirilen bir aktivizm sözkonusu ve bu çok önemli. Gençler Punk ve müzikle ilgililer ve normalizasyonun ya da sistemin gizli baskısının oldukça farkındalar.

Daha önce böyle bir eylemi Kuzey ülkelerinde ya da Avrupanın herhangi bir yerinde rastlamadım. "Critical Mess", burda gördüğüm sergiler, sanat ve bunun gibi şeylerle kıyasladığımda en ilginç etkinlikti.

Ama yenilenme sürecinde olan Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Olafur Eliason sergisiyle acilacakmış.
