INTERNATIONAL EVENT FOR NABA’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY:
LEARNING MACHINES. ART EDUCATION AND ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano, will organize
and host, from December 9th to December 11th, 2010, a grand international event entitled
“Learning Machines. Art Education and alternative production of knowledge” on the relationship
between art and education.
The title “Learning Machines”, derives from Fluxus movement and in particular from a series of
works by George Maciunas.
This will be composed by a series of events: the exhibition “Learning Machines. Figure”, an
international seminar “Learning Machines. Discorsi” (“Learning Machines. Speeches”), the
Temporary Library “Reading Machine” and a special publication to celebrate the Academy
history.
The project reflects NABA’s mission, which from the moment of its creation in 1980, challenged
the rigidity of academic tradition, and introduced visions and languages that are more close to
contemporary artistic practice, the systems of art and creative professions.
